We look forward to hearing from you!
Our beautiful reservoir was not always the way it is today.
The story begins when the Schlichemtalsperre was built between 1940 and 1944. A company in the neighboring town, the builders of the dam, erected the dam to generate cooling water and electricity.
After the Second World War, the plant was taken over by the state of Württemberg-Hohenzollern in 1948. The reservoir was renovated from 1975 to 1983. The barrier structure is an earth dam, the hydroelectric power station located in it has an output of 60 kW. There is a pre-dam with the Vorsee, which was built between 1975 and 1977.
Today:
The reservoir now serves as an important flood retention basin for the neighboring communities. In addition, the turbine in the dam produces 180,000 kWh of electricity per year. The dam also serves nature: it is a great biotope for various animals. Even beavers have settled around the reservoir!
The reservoir is also a great destination for swimming or going out by boat. And this is where we come in.
From mid-March to the end of October, the boats are rented out every day, weather permitting. Fun for young and old is guaranteed. Find out about our prices and opening hours here.
